Dr Devine graduated from the University of Cambridge with degrees in both Natural Sciences (Pharmacology) and Medicine. After working in a number of prestigious London teaching hospitals he commenced his anaesthesia career in Bristol in the West of England before relocating to Western Australia in 2011 to pursue an interest in aeromedical retrieval with the Royal Flying Doctor Service. He subsequently completed his anaesthesia training in WA, working in all of the major tertiary Perth centres in the process.
He has undertaken a fellowship at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, a difficult airway fellowship at Fiona Stanley Hospital and has spent an additional year training as a fellow at the world-renowned Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, UK where he specialised in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and intensive care medicine.
As well as working in several private hospitals in Perth, Dr Devine has been a full-time consultant anaesthetist at Fiona Stanley and Fremantle Hospitals since 2019 where has active roles in acute pain medicine, quality improvement, innovation and medical education.
Professional Interests:
Dr Devine has a wide scope of professional interests and cares for patients across a broad range of surgical specialities, including major head and neck cancer surgery, major general and urological surgery, plastic surgery, orthopaedic surgery and endoscopic gastroenterology procedures.
He has as strong interest in all areas of anaesthesia pertaining to the use of ultrasound, including regional anaesthesia nerve blocks and peri-operative echocardiography.
