Dr Matt Vandy completed his medical degree at the University of Western Australia in 2011 following completion of a Bachelor of Science at the University of Queensland.
He returned to Brisbane in 2016 to commence his training in Anaesthesia with the Queensland Anaesthetic Rotational Training Scheme obtaining his specialist qualifications in 2021. As part of his training, he completed his provisional fellowship in adult general anaesthesia with a focus on anaesthesia for upper GI surgery at Princess Alexandra Hospital. This was immediately followed by a provisional fellowship in paediatric anaesthesia at Queensland Children’s Hospital.

In addition to his private practice at STRIVE ANAESTHESIA, Matt currently works as a staff specialist in the public sector at Fiona Stanley and Fremantle Hospital.

Professional Interests:

Matt is skilled and experienced in providing compassionate and high-quality anaesthesia for a broad range of surgical specialties in both adults and paediatrics. His subspeciality interest includes providing anaesthesia for major upper GI and Colorectal surgery, ENT, Orthopaedic, Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, Urology, and Gynaecology. Matt also has a keen interest in clinical research and quality improvement. He has been involved in international multicentre clinical trials as the principal investigator. He is also actively engaged in the education of the next generation of Anaesthetist through formal and informal teaching.

Outside of work, Matt relishes spending time with his wife and two young kids. He also continues to reminisce his childhood dream of being a professional soccer player by religiously following all major soccer leagues, including our A-League.
