Dr Wood is a specialist anaesthetist working in public and private practice in Perth and regional WA. She completed her anaesthesia specialty training in Perth and the South West, with most time spent at the major tertiary adult hospitals, King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) & Perth Children’s Hospital. Dr Wood returned to KEMH as a provisional fellow to complete the subspecialty fellowship in high-risk obstetric & gynaecology anaesthesia. Following this Dr Wood completed a Regional Anaesthesia Fellowship at Royal Perth Hospital providing care and pain relief options for patients undergoing elective surgery, emergency surgery and trauma patients. From August 2025 Dr Wood will be employed by Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital as a consultant anaesthetist.

Professional Interests:

Dr Wood enjoys working across a broad range of anaesthesia for adult, paediatric and obstetric specialties. Special areas of interest include: using regional anaesthesia techniques to ensure comfort for patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery, experiencing trauma and acute pain; obstetric anaesthesia; anaesthesia for laparoscopic & gynaecologic surgery; plastic & reconstructive surgery; urology & general surgery.

Dr Wood’s non-clinical interests include quality improvement initiatives, accreditation of educational and healthcare institutions, professional advocacy, and, trainee education. She has held several elected and appointed positions related to these roles within healthcare organisations, the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, AMA (WA) and the AMA federal, the Australian Medical Council and the Australian Society of Anaesthetists.
