Dr O’Brien has worked as a Specialist Anaesthetist in private practice for over 5 years. He is currently accredited at the majority of Perth-based private hospitals whilst also holding a 0.5FTE public appointment at Royal Perth Hospital in the Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management. Within his multiple roles at Royal Perth Hospital, he forms part of the Acute Pain Management and Regional Anaesthesia teams. As a keen advocate for medical education, Dr O’Brien continues to be on the organising committee for the Western Australian Airway Group (WAAG) and is an instructor for the Can’t Intubate Can’t Oxygenate (CICO) course. 

Professional Interests:

Dr O’Brien has a particular interest in anaesthetising for Ear Nose & Throat (ENT), Neurosurgery, Maxillofacial, Obstetrics & Gynaecological and Orthopaedic/Major Trauma surgical specialities.
